A perfect birthday weekend

I was going to make a full post about my birthday weekend, and what made it so perfect. But I don't think that is necessary...

The persons involved in its preparation know for sure how much I appreciated their efforts and dedication to this event. And I don't mean just Barefoot Events, the DJs and MC... I mean also all my friends who contributed so much with their help, with their smiling presence and all the gifts... I will thank everyone personally in my own way, you can count on it!

However I have to mention one who dedicated her whole weekend to me, to making sure I'd enjoy every single second of it... Miss C., I just can't (neither want to) get you out of my mind and my heart...

There are so many beautiful and unforgettable moments from this party, I could not make a proper selection of what I think are the best, so I just quickly chose a few, but you can check the whole set by clicking on the 32nd Birthday Party Photo Set.

A perfect birthday weekend (preview)

I feel extremely emotional and very touched by this last weekend. Not only was my birthday party completely packed with the nicest people, I also had some surprises which I'll never forget!

And since then I've been receiving constant phone calls, SMSs, e-mails, of everyone happy and glad to be present at the party, thanking me for a great night out! This is extremely gratifying and just makes me believe that I'm surrounded by amazing people and that I'm an extremly lucky person!

We hired a professional photographer for the whole party, who told me today the photos are extraordinary, so I can't wait to put them online (I will have them tomorrow evening).

So, be sure to check back my website, when I publish the photos I'll properly describe just how perfect and incredible my birthday weekend was!

And for all of you who joined me on this celebration: thank you! thank you! thank you! T.H.A.N.K Y.O.U A.L.L!!!

32nd (Mega) Birthday Bash coming up!

Oh my God! Never before have I been so speechless! How is is possible that things just keep getting better and better?!?!?

My birthday party is coming up, and I just can't wait to see what will happen, as I have at this moment (knowing of more who still have to send their names) already almost 300 guests (no, not Spartans) coming to join me on this celebration!

This is massive, and I'm trying to refrain from thinking too much about it, and to understand what this means. If I'm nervous? Slightly. Excited? Completely!!! :-)))

Update: I now have 305 guests, and its not over!

Update 2: (Saturday 19:01) there are now 351 guests coming! Oh my... :-)

32 birthdays and still going!

Although my birthday party is only this Saturday, my actual birthday was yesterday.

And I simply have no words (again!!!). I was completely overwhelmed by SMSs, phone-calls, e-mails and messages on social sites, during the whole day! So many that I'd need more then a couple of hours to reply to everyone.

To everyone that remembered: thank you! thank you! thank you! THANK YOU!
To all who didn't: don't worry, I'm also like that, I keep forgetting birthdays ;-)

I didn't even had any plans for the evening, but of course Bernardo and Paulo could not let me go that easy. We met up for dinner at Me Gusta, where besides some nice food, we drinked away beers and shots of several liqueurs, as if there was no tomorrow! Then Claudia and Pedro showed up to join the fun, and at that moment I was really happy with the privilege of having my best friends there with me. As if that was not enough to make me more then happy, also my sweet, caring and unforgettable Miss C. came to the madness bringing an even brighter color to the group. Ok, I don't think it can get any better then that! :-)))))

Afterwards, We ended up going to De Duivel, a hip-hop bar where we met with Knowledje and some other portuguese friends, with Paulo and Bernardo going on a rampage to get us drunk! Luckily I stepped out of the disaster at 01:30 going home with an irresistible woman (Miss C.) and somehow still managed to wake up today on time for work and feeling great!

What a birthday! If this was not even planned, I can only imagine what will happen Saturday! Until then, thanks for everything guys!

Memoirs of a perfect week

Last week can only be described with one single word: perfect!

No other words can describe the feeling... besides spending now more time with my best friends, I've been enjoying some of the best days ever with Miss C.!

Since I've met her I feel like angels with guitars came from above and rocked my world!

Its as if I was walking a path facing only forward, and now I can look up and see the blue skies, look left and notice the green fields with random colorful flowers, on the right some cute white houses, and on the back my footsteps reminding me where I've been.

I shall say no more, at least I got some photos out of it:

Your life

Your life is about feeling confident about yourself
It is always when you set your mind free from concerns and obstacles, when you really let yourself loose, that the best things in life happen. And normally unexpectedly. We all know it. We all had that happen to us sometime.

Your life is about doing good to others and to the world
As living beings we all share the same energy that moves nature and events in this world. You are not an island, no matter how much you pretend to be. Your actions affect others, and other things, as well as theirs affect you. So if you want positive things to happen in your life, you have to be positive and respectful about everything around you. And that counts even when no one is looking!

Your life is an ever-changing learning process
Routines don't mean you are in control. If you are constantly growing and changing, then everything around you is also evolving. So every day is unique: even when you think you've done the same as yesterday, actually today you were with different people on the train, different persons left at the same station as you, and it was a different caterer's smile that handed you out lunch today. So, responsibly, make the most of each day.

Your life is love
You are not here to be rich and famous. You are not here to make money or progress on your career (did you really think so? Or is that something which has been imposed to us? Of course it is necessary, as we live in a society that enforces us rules, but do you really think that's why we were set to exist in this world?). If you think about it, the only thing that really gives you happiness and makes you feel safe is love. And I don't mean that word which everyone has nowadays trivialized for anyone they randomly meet (believe me, when you really love someone new you've met recently, you will really know it is true love when you have that tinkle burning inside your chest, and your nerves shake slightly on just a single thought of that one person). What I really mean is the love for your family, your true friends, and the love for your beliefs... those are above any other kind of love, and the only sure thing you can count on in life.

Your love is your life
Just try it for a couple of weeks... smile to all and everything. You'll soon realize, without you asking for it or chasing it, that the same energy will be returned to you several times more, and even when you don't have control over it, everything around you starts working for your happiness, somehow... and when that happens, then you will even not want to have control because then everything starts making sense...
So do not be afraid: believe and spread positive energy!

Since it doesn't cost you anything, neither time or money, don't you think it is worth it to find if this is true...?

Easter weekend

It feels so great to have nothing planned and end up having the best time of your life!

My crazy cousin Bruno came to spend some days with his girlfriend Rute, and they stayed in our place. Its amazing how I never had to worry about their staying here, they found their own way and in fact enjoyed a great part of the center of Amsterdam by their own! (too bad I don't have photos, hope they send me some soon)

Because we had a long weekend here in Holland, we started going out since Thursday night. When meeting with long-time-no-see Sascha also got a call from Daphne who was having a drink nearby with another friend of hers. I can only say that it is a new experience to have a drink with 3 women, because they only talk about one thing, and one thing only: sex!!! Damn, learned so much in those 70 minutes! After that, we went to Zebra, to our Lucy Lee party, which was great and packed!

Friday I went out to Zebra again, with my cousin Bruno, his girlfriend, Marjolein and a friend of hers (who apparently thought I was a magnet and never let me go! Glad she has a boyfriend!). I also met with DJ Sean, and talking with him I realized he's a really cool guy. I can't say much about this evening, I danced a lot, drank a bit, and had again a blast!

Saturday I finally had the courage to end something which was making me suffer for a month already, and now I'm glad I did it. Of course at that moment I felt really down, sad and depressed (some tears fell into the laundry-store where it all happened, glad I was alone there). So I told all my friends that that night I wanted to go wild, just dance without a care in the world, just not think about anything and enjoy as most as possible (normally that means I'll get really drunk). Little did I know I was going to meet someone special that night who would shake me up inside again. I don't want to say too much about it yet, besides "wow!wow!wow!"... ;-)

Sunday the weather was a-m-a-z-i-n-g and I woke up early somehow, feeling great and happy for this nice easter, again without knowing it was just going to get better! I tasted my first-ever bagel, went to the Vondelpark and lied down on the grass by the lake. All this in the warm company of a beautiful, sweet and unforgettable woman who doesn't want to leave my head until today. We then met with Marjolein and Marianne, enjoying the afternoon and the sun, laughing so hard that I sometimes rolled on the ground (these girls are crazy!). Later we all had a nice dinner at Ebeling where again I tasted the irresistible Thai beef salad (a must!).

Monday, as I still had a day-off, I spent it day-dreaming about that woman, just to be lucky enough to meet her again in the evening to watch the new Mr. Bean movie. And again I met with Marjolein, Marianne and Casper, the crazy-crowd :-)

Yeah, normally I don't make such long posts, but this time I just had to let you all know how great I feel about 2007's Easter. Without plans, and enjoying the best Easter ever, made me realize that all you need in life is confidence that things will be better, and spread positive energy because it will come back to you in double!

Hope you all enjoyed a nice Easter!

About me

"I'd seen the light. It was this glaringly obvious blind realization, like pure truth! And it wasn't about anyone in particular, but about people in general. I realized (...) there is no such thing as THE one... It's more about mind-bogling whole hell of a lot of potential ones. Although that should be conforting, it's actually pretty terrifying. We'd all have to kick back and wait for some magical force to show us who we should spend the rest of our lifes with. But the truth is... there isn't a lightning-bolt that slaps you on the ass and tells you to pick this person over all others! If anything... it's like the rain. Rain falls all the time... sometimes you're prepared for it, sometimes you're not. Independent where you are when it hits, you either get caught in it or you don't. (In fact, most of us usually try like hell to avoid it.) You might miss the bus, you might catch the bus. Maybe you remembered your umbrella, maybe you didn't. No big science. Just random torrential bursts of opportunity. And that's the most fate can do. The rest... is up to us!"
