Not much to say when so much is about to happen

This promises to be one of those weekends!

But I always feel cautious not to get my expectations up, because normally they tend to disappoint me. So, this time I won't write much about it, will just let the weekend happen... so apologies for all the mistery on my words.

Friday:
At night there will be a special birthday party. Beautiful as she is, sweet as only she can be, her birthday promises to be a lot of fun. And I'm going to be there dancing the whole night with one of my friend's girlfriend. I don't care what everyone thinks, for me it is an honor to go out and dance with her.
We'll be with a DJ. Who has to play later in another club, and will take us with him. Hopefully I will go to bed not too late.

Saturday:
Have to shop during the afternoon. If you are in the center of Amsterdam call me and we'll have a coffee or something (my number is in the bottom of this website, just scroll all the way down!). A cousin from Portugal is visiting and arriving in the afternoon to go out tonight with us. I have my very own (with BarefootEvents) party CASINO ROYALE at Mansion. Already with lots of people on the guestlist coming to enjoy an evening full of fun and crazyness. I'll have a date, who also has a boyfriend of her own. And I don't care what everyone thinks, she is great, she is awesome and also a privilege to be with. Besides, she seems to be so far a good friend. I love this party, so can't wait!

Sunday:
Will meet someone truly special, who owns my heart for a long time already. We'll discuss things, maybe I'll come home crying with the sadness of a goodbye, or smiling with the happiness of a return. Who knows what will happen, just please wish me luck!

No more. No less. Maybe I'll update this blog afterwards. Maybe not. Don't come back to this website, it is not worthy, I don't even know why you do it.

Thanks for coming though!

(and I hope you know I'm kidding, please leave a comment in the line below this one!) ;-)

Que Pasa? @ Melkweg

Yesterday the boys went out!

As Bernardo is going away for some time to California, he wanted to go out with his friends on the last night before the trip. I promised myself I would go easy on clubbing from now on so I was not up for it, but he is one of my best friends! So I joined them (only later to find out after all he is going only for a week! Damn, we're using any excuse now to go out he!).

Anyway, I called DJ Eduardo, from Que Pasa, to put us on the guestlist of last night's party (thanks Edu!). Although a bit empty in the beginning, the party started getting better after some point, but I spent the whole time by the cocktail bar, where I met these two nice bartenders! The guy (who I forgot to ask the name) was fun to talk with and really helpful on keeping my Mojito glass always full. The girl, who I think I remember her name being Caroline but am not sure (if you read this, please correct me in the comments section please, and forgive me!), was, besides really cute, also cheerful and spontaneous... irresistible :-)

Bernardo, Paulo and Knowledje were dancing the whole time in the middle of the dance floor, but at a certain point they went away to Sugar Factory. I stayed a little bit longer in Melkweg, but later also decided to go home.

And today I feel great! Not only because I had fun yesterday, but also because I behaved and got home on time to sleep and be ready for work. So nice!

Tonight I will go out again, but Saturday night I'm definitely staying at home. After all, next weekend will be a blast anyway: my monthly Casino Royale party is approaching and promises to be an evening full of crazyness and loads of fun fun fun fun! :-)

Spring is in the air!

Yesterday, Spring started!

And, although it is quite cold in Amsterdam, I want you all to be ready: this year's will be awesome!

Smile at life, try to take the best out of every situation no matter how tough it seems to be... and we all know sometimes is really hard ... but I think that when you make a real effort to spread the good, it will be "magically" returned to you :-)

As Gretchen Rubin nicely finds it here:

"(...) If you have plenty of fun in your life – if you make time to see friends, to learn about things that interest you, to do the things you enjoy, like reading or going to movies or hiking – you have a higher store of patience and tolerance.

On the other hand, when you don’t have much fun in your life, it’s easy to become preoccupied with the aggravations and frustrations. There’s nothing to distract you from your bad feelings.

It may seem selfish to focus on having more fun and happiness. But as I’ve seen dramatically proven in my own life this year, by working to be happier myself (and happiness takes a surprising amount of work), I’m far better able to make other people happier.

I’m less crabby. I laugh more easily. I find it easier to go out of my way to help other people. I’m less resentful, judgmental, and insecure.

And I don’t get as annoyed by little things (...)
"

So get out there and start spreading some positive energy people! ;-)

The Creeps - Camille Jones

This song from Camille Jones is awesome! Can't wait to hear it at a club... yeah, this is a hint for the DJs in Amsterdam: play this one, or Fedde Le Grand's remix, please!

Make me take the ride
Free drinks on tonight
Take some have a feast
Break me 'cause it keeps coming...

Down on either side
Bleeding in my mind
Waiting for the creeps
To kill my last believes

So come on down to the creeps

Holding back the key
Fading sanity
Blowing up my head
Reaching for my always loving...

Partner in crime
Soaking up my mind
Filling up my glass
I'm gone, at last

Come on down to the creeps
Come on down to the creeps
Come on

Walking to the claim
The creeps calling my name
They get me every-time
I'm bleeding and I'm getting

We go split before my eyes
Increase, double size
Lease out my brain
Am I insane

Come on down to the creeps
Come on down to the creeps
Come on

Parabens Oriana!

Oriana, Oriana... I could say so much about this girl, that you would stop reading after the first hour, we went through fun times, she is a good friend since my early teen days!

She made 29 years-old (damn, we're getting old!), and although I haven't been able to be with her much since I moved to Holland 6 years ago, I will always treasure all memories we have, and trust that our friendship will live long until we are old and grumpy with each other ;-)

Oriana, I love you too much my dear friend! And I'm really hoping you can make it and visit us this summer, we'll dance the whole week away when you're here!!! Sensation awaits us! Myself... I can't wait!

Snowy Amsterdam

It is snowing again in Amsterdam!

I grew up in Lisbon, Portugal, so never experienced any snow until I moved to Holland (in Portugal it only snows at higher places, like cities at mountains).

Fortunately, contrary to other real-winter-cold countries like Estonia (yes, Karolin, got your email!), here in Holland it only snows once or twice a year, and then only for a few days (if at all), so then you can enjoy it without being bothered with its problems (when it makes everywhere slippery or unreachable, for example).

I admit: I love it, when it snows in Amsterdam.

To Patricia

To Patricia...
The girl I've loved since the start
and who, when she smiles,
covers me with a shining bright light.
Whose soft hugs earned my heart
and the girl I want back...
back into my life...

"He feels emotions flow
The sun is rising slow
And makes her blue brown eyes glow
He just wants her to know...

Things around him have been a mess
She cured his sickness

And I guess what he feels now
Scares her somehow

But I know she'll be all right
If he could shut up tonight
And just hold her tight

This is a place for ends
Where it all begins again
And what he's about to say
Scares her in a way

But I know she'll be all right
If he could shut up tonight
And just hold her tight

Happy birthday Flavia

Drinking with eBuddy

Tonight I'm meeting with the eBuddy crew for drinks. It is always crazy, this people are really cool and friendly, relaxed and always looking out to have fun (probably why the company is so successful).

I forgot to mention something amazing which happened end-January: Hyves and eBuddy were the big winners of the Dutch Web 2.0 Awards!

This is something extraordinary, specially when I remember a few years ago Paulo brain-storming with me about having a web-based Instant Messaging application. Nowadays, that project has transformed into eBuddy, this powerful company which offers their service to 28 million unique users, and 5 million mobile users!

It is stories like this that make me say to everyone: believe in your dreams! And don't stop believing, as the way to achieve them is only within yourself!

Uhmmm, getting too philosophical here... forget that, I just want to drink and have loads of fun tonight! Meet you later, eBuddy! ;-)

Night-out with true friends

Its always so cool to hang out with your best friends! At moments like these I feel I must be special, to have such special friends!

We drinked and we danced. We cheered and we laughed. You guys are really special to me! Paulo, Roland, Tinne and Bernardo... what would I ever do if you were not part of my life!

Also a special thanks to DJ Eduardo, who put us on the guestlist of "Que Pasa?". Unfortunately he didn't play this time... hope he will the next one, his music is vital for us, without him a lot of us would simply stop enjoying the party, as he is the master! :-)

Victoria's birthday

This last Saturday was Victoria's birthday, at the Ebeling.

Victoria is this beautiful woman who I've met in one of my old "My name is on the List" parties, and since then became good friends. I like her crowd (always with more beautiful women) and I honestly feel good when around them.

Happy birthday Victoria! A big kiss to you and keep being the masterpiece of your life! ;-)

Tito Paris in Amsterdam

Tonight I'll have the pleasure of watching Tito Paris, one of the most known music icons from Cape Verde, playing live in the Muziekgebow, Amsterdam.
Tito Paris

I actually met Tito Paris this last January, in the S.Vicente island of Cape Verde, for some brief seconds as he is an acquaintance of my (himself famous) grandfather!

I can't wait for this show, which has been arranged by my friends Liesbeth and Turid, from World Connection! Thanks for arranging this, girls! :)

In the meantime, you can delight yourself with this extraordinary video of Tito Paris playing Live, by clicking below.

Update: It was a marvelous show! Tito Paris has a voice which sounds fantastic when hearing Live, and makes you fly to the ancient roots of the culture of Cape Verde. Unforgetable!

Dinner with Marjolein

Yesterday I had dinner with my really-good friend Marjolein.

It is funny that I know her for around one year now, meeting almost every week, but we never met during daytime or even without going to a bar or to dance at a club, so it was about time!

We had a delicious dinner at Ebeling (where I'll be again this Saturday for Victoria's birthday bash), and talked for more then 3 hours! I guess that's a sign that this dinner was due!!

Thanks for a great dinner, sweet friend! You are truly special. :)

About me

"I'd seen the light. It was this glaringly obvious blind realization, like pure truth! And it wasn't about anyone in particular, but about people in general. I realized (...) there is no such thing as THE one... It's more about mind-bogling whole hell of a lot of potential ones. Although that should be conforting, it's actually pretty terrifying. We'd all have to kick back and wait for some magical force to show us who we should spend the rest of our lifes with. But the truth is... there isn't a lightning-bolt that slaps you on the ass and tells you to pick this person over all others! If anything... it's like the rain. Rain falls all the time... sometimes you're prepared for it, sometimes you're not. Independent where you are when it hits, you either get caught in it or you don't. (In fact, most of us usually try like hell to avoid it.) You might miss the bus, you might catch the bus. Maybe you remembered your umbrella, maybe you didn't. No big science. Just random torrential bursts of opportunity. And that's the most fate can do. The rest... is up to us!"
