Queen's Day weekend

I have had a tough week, with work and moving my stuff to the new wonderful apartment that I'll be sharing with my best friend Paulo. So, basically, not enough rest. Specially considering the best party in Amsterdam was arriving: Queen's Day!

For the ones who don't know, Queen's Day is a special day in The Netherlands, where the cities are open for everything. You can sell whatever you want on the street, clothing, shoes, books, glasses, cups, chairs, even food and beverages, or do crazy stuff like getting your group together dressed as priests and sell sex advices (for a joke) on the street!

But Amsterdam is the center point of this national party, where all major squares are transformed into huge dance arenas! And everyone comes here to have fun like wild people.

This year I really wanted to enjoy the event, and unfortunately ended up not taking too many photos for you to check, but it was a special weekend! A lot of friends, who actually live abroad, came here specially this weekend. And I really missed them, so it was awsom: Raimana, Albane, Antonio, Daniel, Sara... also nice to see my childhood friends David and Diogo!

With partner-in-crime Rodrigo

The crime ;-)

Friday night we started at a street party, hosted and sponsored by E-Messenger. Although it was cold outside (so we could not take off our jackets), this party was perfect to start since beer and wine were available for free and in large numbers! Music was also excelent, with a DJ hired from the UK. Awsom event, thanks to Paulo and his partners.

With Ray Slijngaard (from 2Unlimited)

Afterwards everyone went to Que Pasa, which I also went later, but I wanted to stop by at Zebra first. Inside I had a lot of fun, and was lucky to meet with Ray Slijngaard, from the former worldwide-known band 2Unlimited (who split up in my birthday, 17 April of 1996). I had a nice chat with him (this guy is an icon in the dance music scene!), and found out he is now busy with his own production company Rayvano Productions, which he named after his son. Really cool to meet you Ray!

With beautiful Alessandra

Saturday, after only 6 hours of sleep, I was awaken by a phone call to get ready and go party! I met with my dearest friend Lenny and Eveline with their crew. We walked around the city to later meet with Paulo and his crew. And then meet with Claudia and Pedro. Also with Bernardo and his crew. And then Caterina and hers... so many people!

We danced first at the SlamFM party at Rembrandtplein, where music was alright, but the place was too crowded. Still, we had a lot of fun! Later we headed on to the amazing "Fire!" party at Waterlooplein, where music was the top! I didn't stop dancing for a single minute! And the crowd (also too much) was wild wild wild!

with brother Paulo

Unfortunately all this parties stopped at 21:00, so we had to find another place to dance. First we tried De Kroon for a while, but later I remembered Zebra was hosting the Soigné party which I went last time and had a lot of fun. Again, the floor was hot with everyone dancing... another success of my dear crew of Barefoot Events! And I had the honour and pleasure of meeting again with Miss Chianty!

Miss Chianty

Now I believe is time to stop a bit. Calm down. Recover energy. Do a lot of Yoga, drink some coffee by the sun, breed the fresh air of the daylight. Next weeks I need to calm down. Specially because... my next party is in preparation... it will happen earlier then what you think ;-)

Moving to a new place

Today I'm moving to a new apartment, near Leidseplein (the center of the world) ;-)

I hate moving, because you always find out how much trash have you gathered in the place you're moving out, and even after throwing away most of it, you still get too much stuff to move to the new place!

This time I decided to be conscious and really think about what do I need to keep. Almost everything was thrown out!!! Today I'm still busy with trashing everything, and already saw 7 people going through my stuff and taking it with them.

I think that's what recycling means...

Fun-tastic Casino Royale

Another success! Casino Royale was another event we'll never forget!

The Mansion is a really nice and stylish club, where cocktails are made to be really delicious. Yes, it is slightly more expensive, but you really get what you're paying for (which does not always happen in other clubs).

I had around 100 guests, which included Alessandra's birthday guests. There were even football players on my guestlist, who later congratulated for the event, and actually are looking forward to the next one! A lot of my friends were also hanging out at the blackjack table, and earned quite a few drinks!

Music was excellent! On the dance floor, DJs Jani and Timothy Watt took us to another level, always rising the beat and rythm. These guys were awsom!

And I cannot describe how much fun did I had! A M A Z I N G !!! Trying to avoid some sharks, I managed to have fun with my friends and a lot of girls (don't worry, my dear Suzy, I'll always be only yours baby)! And I'm happy that Paulo had a lot of fun (you know what I mean, bro!). ;-)

This party will happen again, and I'll be sure to be in the frontline!

Live: starting the weekend

Instead of the normal routine, I got a ride today with Nathalie!

She is one of Canon's colleagues that I like the most, a true professional at the office and a wild dancer at clubs!

She is always so busy that is rare to see her. But when possible, being with her is always great!

Nathalie: hope I'll be able to see you dancing sometime soon!

Live: Tinne's birthday

Today is Tinne's birthday, and we are celebrating first at Vuong and then a nice dinner at Castell!

Tinne is this gorgeous belgian girl who I really love! She deserves the best!

Big kiss Tinne: you are amazing!

Casino Royale 1st Edition this Saturday!

This Saturday 22nd, at the beautiful and stylish club The Mansion, they will host the first edition of "Casino Royale".

This party is a new concept by Holland Casino, The Mansion and Barefoot Events, where cocktails and gambling will be a plus, while entertainment and DJs will rock the dance floor!

Starting at 21:00, at the mirror room the rules of blackjack will be explained while cocktails will be served. Entertainment will be provided by the Swingkings, playing all kinds of swing.

Downstairs a different ambiance will be in order: Djs Jani and Timothy Watt will make us dance at soulful funky and groovy house music with a twist of classics.

Definitely, an event not to miss. I'll be there at 22:00! If you want to join, let me know before Friday night and I'll include you in the guestlist!

See you all there!

31st Birthday: 3rd Party

I couldn't believe it again! Paulo told me last week not to arrange anything for my birthday night (birthnight?). Of course, that meant some surprise was being setup. He told me to be at 19:00 in the Dam, and that's it!

Oh, it turned out to be so nice! Paulo is really my best friend, as again he was showing (even though he does not have to, I considered him already a brother!!!).

He showed up with Claudia, Pedro, Flavia and Roberta. I got a rose from Flavia and Roberta which was really sweet! Then they pretended wanting to go for some weed at a coffeeshop but completely fooled me: they actually wanted to go to Supper Club, where Paulo already had reservations, an amazing and one of the most exclusive restaurants in Amsterdam!

I always wanted to have dinner here (they have beds instead of tables) but never had a chance before! Oh my... this was so cool, Paulo! Unforgetable surprise again, you bastard! ;-)

The dinner was exquisite, a true delicious experience (congrats to the chefs, I'll never taste something this good!). Also, the service was of-the-top, and I could not resist to take a photo with our hostess.

There was even a show, where my mouth was open from beginning to end: a beautifully-dressed woman singing with a voice which deserved to be already known worldwide!

An unexpected surprise was to see Edson Celulari, a famous brazilian actor who was also having dinner there (they were filming this week part of a brazilian soap-opera in Amsterdam) and congratulated me for my birthday! Could not believe this so-famous guy, who I grew-up with watching him on TV, was actually there at my birthday. Luckily someone took a photo of me talking with him ;-)

Even before dinner was over, the DJ playing decided to steam-up the environment, and suddenly everyone was dancing on top of the beds, and the few tables located at the middle of the restaurant! It was an exclusive night, as normally this does not happen there!

I really have to thank Paulo for this evening (and not only, but lets stick to this for now), another present which I'll never forget! Paulo, dude, you rock!

31st Birthday: 2nd Party

My birthday celebration, apparently, hasn't stopped! Sunday afternoon I was still recovering from the unforgetable birthday party at Zebra, when Paulo told me to get dressed since we were meeting with some portuguese friends.

Joao, Carla, Paulo and Claudia

We went to Leidseplein, and met with Joao (he is an airline pilot) and Claudia (an airline hostess). They were in Amsterdam only this afternoon and evening, so they wanted to have some fun. It was then that the first surprise happened: Joao was waiting for yet another friend who lives in Amsterdam, Carla, who coincidently me and Paulo know pretty well and already enjoyed some amazing parties together with!

(left to right) Claudia and Carla

Carla is this beautiful and crazy portuguese girl who lives in Amsterdam for 10 years already, and we've met her through Claudia, my best (girl) friend. I actually like to be with Carla, it is always a lot of fun when we are together (she is way crazyer then I am), and I just wish we could see her more often!

We went for some drinks at Rembrandtplein, sitting outside by the sun, and I took the opportunity to call Claudia to come and meet us (also with Pedro, her boyfriend). Since it was getting cold, we went afterwards to Cocos, a nice bar with couches, also located at Rembrandtplein.

From then on things got really crazy! I stopped counting the ammount of beers and chilled-Vodka shots when the alcohol was going up our heads! We had SO MANY that at a certain point even the owner came to cheer with us.

We got mad and started taking pictures of everything, and I suddenly got obsessed with Tattoos! I took shots of tattoos from our friends, waitresses and even some customers (all women of course) ;-)

After getting really drunk, and as the night was getting late and late, everyone went home except me and Claudia (also drunk). We went to a birthday party of one of her friends, where at least I had the opportunity to eat somethings and get my stomach and blood free of so much alcohol!

We didn't stay there for long though. MC Knowledge was waiting for us at the Supper Club, which was actually nearby, so we met with him and danced a few minutes there (while drinking a bit more...). It was fun, but we also didn't stay for long there. The three of us went to Jimmy Woo, as Knowledge was going to sing there.

At Jimmy Woo I just danced and danced and danced... didn't care about anyone else except Knowledge and Claudia, even though (as Claudia told me later) we were surrounded by women eager to dance with us! I met a couple of them though ;-)

So, in the end, there I was, without planning, entering my actual birthday, dancing at Jimmy Woo with my best friend Claudia and Knowledge, completely happy again and cheerful! What another amazing evening!

31st Birthday: 1st Party

O h   m y   G o d !!!

I can't believe all this just happened. I had THE most amazing birthday party I could wish for! I just ... I really... no matter what I write about it, it won't come close to describe how much fun I had, how much excitement, joy and all the feelings that went through me.

My closest friends were there! I really have to thank you all who came, and all who could not join but sent me sweet messages! My phone has been crazy with calls and SMSs, it really makes me feel fantastic.

My pals from Barefoot Events offered me the biggest table there is at Zebra, for all of us to feel confortable! Also, they were responsible for allowing my guest to come on the guestlist! Robert and Suki: that was awsom, guys! And Barry: thank you for the two bottles and all the support!

Paulo and Bernardo... I will never be able to thank them enough: their present was a huge surprise! Last year there was a stripper, but this year they arranged two dancers to come dance at my birthday party! Two dancers! Two pretty and really good dancers that I could dance with anytime I wanted. And the best part was that they were really cool, they kept me going with the music rythm like crazy! Paulo and Bernardo: you guys are unforgetable!

Knowledge was also unforgetable! I really wanted him to sing at my birthday, but this guy completely rocked! I am still speechless at the show he gave, the whole night. Kept everyone hot and steamy at his performance (together with Nuno, who is also really cool!), there was never a dull moment!
Knowledge: you are amazing, dude!

I cannot say anything more: this was a night which I'll keep in my heart forever! A memory which will always make me feel good! ;-)

Que Pasa?

Yesterday I met with Paulo and Knowledge, and we went to the "Que Pasa?" party, in Melkweg. There we also met with Bernardo and a lot of people we know. I really like our group, when going out with this crowd the fun is guaranteed! (and actually today the same thing will happen, but with a whole larger dimension)

One thing to notice, as Paulo remarked in my blog's comments, was that there was a flyer of Zoom and my birthday party just laying on the dance floor! That was amazing, to realize that these things are actually out there and, without me knowing or them as well, people read my name somewhere. So cool!

Tonight is my birthday party. I have 50 guests of my own on the guestlist, all dear friends of mine (and their respectives or friends). But the party itself should be really crowded, being its first anniversary.

Another promising night is arriving!

Birthday weekend

So the moment is arriving... soon I'm going to be 31 (ouch! Somehow I don't like this number...).

This Saturday 15th I have my birthday party coming up (although my actual birthday is on the 17th). I don't know how I get to be so lucky but the guys at BarefootEvents gave me a unique present: to host my birthday party at the 1st Anniversary of the Zoom party!

The Zoom party is a monthly event at Zebra, which I've been enjoying since its beginning! I've been featured several times at their photo galleries, and it is the place where it happened some of the most important things that happened with me throughout the last year (the ones who were there know what I'm talking about).

Vitor with Goodgrip

Vitor with Miss Chianty

On this celebration there will be more then 10 DJs playing as well as several special performances (I'm really looking forward to hearing Miss Chianty singing again, I really like her, and also DJ/MC Goodgrip who I'm a huge fan!).

And the best part of this celebration is that it is at this party that I will host my very own birthday! I already have close to 50 of my best crew signed up so I'm sure it will be loads of fun!

I'm so looking forward to this! ;-)

For the actual birthday evening, on Monday, I cannot plan anything as Paulo, my best friend, told me not to! I was only supposed to invite a friend of mine to come with me (I invited Flavia, who accepted my invitation with a smile, and who coincidently honoured me yesterday at her photolog). As far as the rest goes, he said to "let me handle everything, Vitor". So cool! I can imagine already it is going to be a dinner somewhere... but have no clue! So cool! I hate surprises, and love them at the same time!

For all you readers: I wish you a nice easter weekend! And don't eat too many chocolates ok? ;-)

Wicked Jazz Saturday!

After a long sleep recovering from yesterday's night out, I woke up feeling a bit bored. While shopping and taking care of my clothing, I phoned a few friends just to have a feel at what to do this evening.

I'm glad one of the first I called was MC Knowledge: he was going to play at Paradiso, on the Wicked Jazz Sounds party. Usually this party is on Sunday's, at the Sugar Factory, but it was a special birthday event so they planned it for Paradiso.

I met with MC Knowledge at Tapas Cafe Me Gusta, just for a few drinks, and then we went to have dinner with the bands and management of the party. It was nice to meet this people before the party (as I didn't knew any of them) and have some really nice chat with some of them. Amazing was to see them later at Paradiso, making the party happening... but read about this below ;-)

Afterwards, we went to the Sports Cafe, meeting with Paulo, Bernardo and Nuno, to watch an important portuguese football derby "Porto - Sporting". I'm not a fan of football, but I still support my team Sporting. Unfortunately they lost the game, but I knew a nice party was coming so I didn't care much about it.

Me and MC Knowledge

We then head-off to Paradiso, top-floor, where MC Knowledge was going to rock the crowd! In three words: was so amazing!!!

A lot of surprises happened, which is cool when you don't plan anything. Liliana and Paula also joined our group (and they were so cute!). One of Suzy's friends was actually also playing with MC Knowledge! Saskia, Anita and Carina were also in the venue! I met this nice group of Dutch girls, one of them even spoke Portuguese! At a certain moment a circle was formed, and some people went in the middle to show off their dance magic (some were amazing!). Another of my beautiful brazilian friends was there also: Alessandra! We all danced like crazy and constanly had girls surrounding us!

You can look at the photo album here.

Sunday I woke up feeling good, and spent the whole day walking around Amsterdam, and later came to my future new place to be with Paulo playing some games, and sleep there. It was a really relaxing evening at my new bed! This new place really looks promising, I'm sure the next months are going to be fun-tastic!

Friday night out at Leidseplein

Friday I fullfiled a promise to my friend Iris. She is this cute girl from Argentinian who I've met at Que Pasa, and promised I'd show some clubs. We met with Jucelia and a gay friend of hers, and went to Jimmy Woo to start the evening. It was also my first time at Jimmy's, I've always heard the club is nice but the people there are too poshy and just showing off style and money instead of having fun. Nevertheless, I liked the music a lot, as it is diverse, and was actually amazed at how many beautiful girls were inside! Of course, I have my own sweet beautiful girl already (although she is now in Brazil), so I behaved!

Me and Moses

But the whole goal of going to Jimmy Woo was to celebrate Moses birthday. He is an ex-colleage from Canon who now moved to a new role at Expatica. It was really cool to hang out with him and his crew as well!

Me and Iris

Afterwards, me and Iris went to Zebra and danced a bit but unfortunately the crowd there was not that cheerful, so we went then to Que Pasa to meet Paulo, Bernardo and Nuno, as well as Iris friends who I also know. It was also cool to go to Que Pasa, it is always fun! Afterwards I came back home (alone of course) and dreamdt about how much do I miss my Suzy!

This whole week has been so crazy that I'm not even going to bother writing about it, you wouldn't read it anyway: it has been too much and too confusing even for me.

But I have to say that my party was, in the end, a complete success!

I arrived there a bit later then planned (as always, with me) but it was still quiet and everyone was still preparing the club for the event. After some minutes, suddenly people started to show up... I was, specially in the beginning, requested at the door several times due to confusions with names, people bringing more friends then what they registered with, and other, for some reason, said they sent the email but never got a confirmation (so, their names were not on the list)... luckily, we had a really good and serious russian girl at the door (needless to say: gorgeous as well) who handled everything perfectly.

More and more people were coming, until a certain point where even the coat-hanger was completely full (so, no more people allowed inside). The club was really packed!

And the most amazing thing, that made me proud: almost everyone was dancing at the dance-floor... the dance-floor was almost impossible to cross-through due to so many crazy dancers!

Robert Feelgood and Timothy Watt were amazing with their music. These guys know how to get the crowd going more and more wild... impressive!

Everything was running perfectly... well, except one important detail: the photografer never came!!! Arghhhhh! I can't believe I don't have any photos of my own party! Damn!

(If you took photos at the party, I'd appreciate sending me a copy! Thanks!)

During this whole week I've been receiving a lot of compliments, and incentives to make another event... well guys: my birthday is coming up!!

About me

"I'd seen the light. It was this glaringly obvious blind realization, like pure truth! And it wasn't about anyone in particular, but about people in general. I realized (...) there is no such thing as THE one... It's more about mind-bogling whole hell of a lot of potential ones. Although that should be conforting, it's actually pretty terrifying. We'd all have to kick back and wait for some magical force to show us who we should spend the rest of our lifes with. But the truth is... there isn't a lightning-bolt that slaps you on the ass and tells you to pick this person over all others! If anything... it's like the rain. Rain falls all the time... sometimes you're prepared for it, sometimes you're not. Independent where you are when it hits, you either get caught in it or you don't. (In fact, most of us usually try like hell to avoid it.) You might miss the bus, you might catch the bus. Maybe you remembered your umbrella, maybe you didn't. No big science. Just random torrential bursts of opportunity. And that's the most fate can do. The rest... is up to us!"
