The official Valentine's day

Oh my...

After so many years, finally I was able to spend the Valentine's evening with my girlfriend. And I say evening because in fact most of us work at day, so actually we only spend it with our loved ones at night, right?

In fact, somehow throughout all these years, either I didn't had a girlfriend at this famous date or, unfortunately, she was far away. So, I really wanted this first time to be special.

I spent the whole day at the office nagging everyone about their plans (I still don't know how can they work when I'm around, I'm always messing up with everyone!), and telling them to prepare something special for their loved ones, since IT IS Valentine's day and at least tonight that's what they should be doing!

At the end of the day I came home all excited, took a long hot shower and dressed up for my Suzy... I met her at Central Station, and she had no idea what would happen tonight since I was keen on everything to be a surprise.

We went to "De Portugees", what I consider to be the best portuguese restaurant in Amsterdam (in food and service), where I had reserved a nice romantic table. Suzy was the only one that didn't knew there was a huge flower arrangement waiting at the basement of the restaurant, I wanted to suprise her later with it. Also new to her was this restaurant, as she never went there before.

We had a combination of almost all starters they have (I really wanted her to try everything that the portuguese cuisine has to offer there), and ate fish and gambas. Needless to say, everything was beautifully cooked and served, a true delight!

To go with it, we actually took care of one and and half bottles of Rose wine, which made us feel a bit warm inside already, and scared to stand up to feel the wine turning the restaurant around our heads! ;-)

At the end I pretended to go to the toilet, just to come up with the flowers... gee, you should see her face... she had no clue! Her smile showed me how good this surprise felt to her... and her smile is already always so cute!

Another surprise was that we had a Valentine's party to go afterwards! But first we headed off to my apartment to leave the flowers... Suzy then offered me her present: a really beautiful complete Turkish tea service! Damn, she knew I needed this, but she had to make it even more special... I really liked it, tricky Suzy :D

We then went to the party, which was being held at Club NL by my pals from Barefoot Events. It was the first time I went to this club, and have been anxious about it since I've planned to come there for weeks already! The club is really beautiful and trendy, with nice staff that kept on bringing us shot after shot, the whole night!

A curious detail: at the entrance we had to chose which ribbon to use on our wrist. Red-ribbon meant "taken", green-ribbon meant "free!" and yellow-ribbon meant "Taken but might consider..." (eheheh, beautiful idea guys!)

The DJs playing were also awsom, and we danced like crazy! The party was really crowded and everyone was really happy, dancing and drinking. At a certain point I lost control of myself, I just got loose and enjoyed everything without thinking, so much alcohol was running in my veins (I know... "shame on you, Vitor")!

And poor Suzanne, I got her drunk also... but we had a lot of fun! Oh, yes, we did!

The official Valentine's day (evening!) was truly special.. my first and (I'm sure) the best I could ever wish for! The best!

Happy Valentine's Day to my favourite couple :-)

About me

"I'd seen the light. It was this glaringly obvious blind realization, like pure truth! And it wasn't about anyone in particular, but about people in general. I realized (...) there is no such thing as THE one... It's more about mind-bogling whole hell of a lot of potential ones. Although that should be conforting, it's actually pretty terrifying. We'd all have to kick back and wait for some magical force to show us who we should spend the rest of our lifes with. But the truth is... there isn't a lightning-bolt that slaps you on the ass and tells you to pick this person over all others! If anything... it's like the rain. Rain falls all the time... sometimes you're prepared for it, sometimes you're not. Independent where you are when it hits, you either get caught in it or you don't. (In fact, most of us usually try like hell to avoid it.) You might miss the bus, you might catch the bus. Maybe you remembered your umbrella, maybe you didn't. No big science. Just random torrential bursts of opportunity. And that's the most fate can do. The rest... is up to us!"
